New Halo movie concept art.

Well let’s be honest here. The Halo movie as we hoped it would be, produced by Peter Jackson and Directed by Neill Blomkamp, is dead and buried. The only good news to come from this was that Alex Garland’s horrendous script will never EVER see the light of day.

But Austrailian born screenwriter Stewart Beattie (the pen behind Pirates of the Carribean, 30 Days of Night, and the upcoming GI Joe and Gears of War scripts among others) has apparently written a spec script based on Master Chief’s early life and the events leading up to the first game. As in Eric Nylund’s Halo: The Fall of Reach.

For those who don’t know, a spec script means a screenplay written without studio involvement, on the ’spec’ulation that someone will buy it and make a movie out of it. Or at least consider that writer for a future project.

Mr. Beattie, though, has put some effort behind this one, even adding in a little concept art to sweeten the pitch from Kasra Farahani who also did the concept art for Spiderman 3 and Hancock. Film site Latino Review got their hands on five pieces of concept art and will be rationing them out over the next few weeks.

This particular piece, I believe, kinda-sorta depicts the scene about halfway through the novel when the Covenant make their first appearance. Unless of course someone is having fun with us and this is all a big dirty lie.
